| ANCB's Organizational History
Up until 2003, Naturopathic Certifications were issued by the American Naturopathic Medical Certification and Accreditation Board (ANMCAB). This group dissolved in 2003, and ANCB was born.

ANCB Today
ANCB is a 501(c)(6) federal non-profit tax-exempt organization, and the only non-profit Certification Board for Naturopathy in the U.S.
ANCB offers professional certification in Traditional Naturopathy (CTN) and Nutritional Wellness (CNW), and we work to increase the visibility and credibility of these vital health services.

Joanie Coffey
Joanie is educated, trained and professionally certified in Naturopathy, Reiki, Nutrition, and Clinical Therapy. In addition to her bustling natural health practice of 21 years in Colorado, Joanie brings to ANCB a wealth of experience in legislative issues.
Her passion for Health Freedom has led her to serve as President of the Colorado Coalition for Natural Health since 1997, where she has worked to protect and secure the right to practice for all natural health practitioners, as well as the right to choose for consumers. Joanie is known for her no-nonsense style of leadership and her lobbying tenacity.
Joanie is 54 years old (only because we are being honest here, everyone thinks 29!); she has four daughters, 27, 25, 23 and 21 and three step-children, 33, 31, 22. She is pictured here in her orchard at her home in Colorado.

Phyllis Light
Phyllis D. Light, MA, LMT, is an herbalist, natural health consultant and health educator with over 25 years of clinical experience. She is traditionally trained in Southern and Appalachian Folk Medicine and began her studies with her Creek/Cherokee grandmother in the deep woods of North Alabama. Phyllis continued her studies with Appalachian elders, such as Tommie Bass, and studies in conventional Western bio-medicine.
Phyllis is a professional member of the American Herbalist Guild. She teaches classes in natural health and herbalism at universities, hospitals, and conferences across the country. Phyllis is a licensed massage therapist, Reiki Master, reflexologist, and health educator. Phyllis is Director of the Appalachian Center for Health Studies, offering online and residential traditional herbal and health classes in Arab, AL. She is a member of the Cherokee Tribe of Northeast Alabama.
Above all, Phyllis devotes herself to building a bridge between traditional knowledge and modern-day science; to help hold sacred the traditional herbal and healing knowledge that has been handed down from generation to generation while embracing the relevant scientific knowledge of today. |
